GROWN UP ELOISE FT. PRINCESS POLLY
Of all the touristy things I’ve done in Manhattan, (and there haven’t been many) having tea at the Plaza was probably my favorite. Of course, I went with Lindsey, so it’s a great memory I have with her — but more so, it’s just a quintessential NYC activity to do. I also grew up reading the Eloise series, and have lots of memories visiting the shops in the basement area with my grandparents. The Plaza will always have a place in my heart, which is why I’ll take just about any excuse to go there. Fortune was in my favor, as NYU Stern threw an awards dinner there this week, which I got to attend as a +1 (thanks Sean!). I wanted to channel grown-up Eloise in my look (with a nod to her classic black and white outfit) and I think this nailed it on the head!
I first started with this silky wrap dress I got from Princess Polly last year — this one is on sale and very similar. To add a touch of creamy white (an ode to Eloise’s signature white collared shirt), I popped on a clip on flower from this $11 pack I got on Amazon — truly the best hack for adding a little pop or texture to your look without committing to buying actual rosette-adorned outfits. I completed the look with black fishnets, which I feel like Eloise would totally rock as an adult, plus some chunky black platforms from Steve Madden (updated version here!). PS: These earrings are from H&M, but I found a similar pick on Amazon! I looove the pearl drop style! All in all, I think I’d make Eloise proud!
Leaving you with a little sagacity from the Bard, that sums an Eloise type up nicely:
“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”
