JUNE FAVORITES

Last month, with the terror going on in TX, I talked about how my blog posts (and really anything I post on the Internet, IG, Youtube and all) are a means of escape. And it absolutely shatters my heart to say that here we are, again, at the end of June and I’m going to have to say the same thing with the recent Roe overturn. First things first, I wanted to take the opportunity to share this article which breaks down what this means for the future, and this article that shares ways to support and donate.

June was a tumultuous month not only for this country, but for me personally as it marked the sixth month anniversary of Lindsey’s passing. I think it actually took me the full six months to even grasp what really happened, — grief is weird like that. Four years ago around this time, I took Linds to Popsugar/Playground and wore her very first MOMSCo design — But Daddy, I Love Him. I wrote about it here, but to reiterate: this was a quote Ariel said to her father, King Triton in the Little Mermaid. This was one of the first of many successful designs of the brand she worked so hard to build. It’s amazing to look back and see all that she accomplished, and I think all of us are not only mourning her, but mourning what else she could have created. She gave us gifts, through the artwork she created here on earth, and so, all I can do is smile at them, reminisce, and watch some of her old Youtube videos to get through.

Again, it feels weird to move on and say, here’s all the things I’ve been loving this month. But I’m here to do it, anyway, to keep up this blog, distract myself, and to share my passion to those who want to read about it. Here we go, with my favoirtes from June.

Abercrombie & Fitch Cropped Halter Scarf TopLove a good scarf top for summer, and the A&F ones are must-haves in my book! Not only is the silky material really nice, it’s easy to tie, and looks gorgeous paired with just about anything — baggy jeans, a short skirt or even just some shorts.

Alyssa Pleated Skort from Storets — There’s something about a tennis skirt that definitely brings me back to my all girls Catholic middle and high school, which is why I’ve avoided getting and trying one for a while — but I’ve had my eye on this one for a while and decided to bite the bullet — and I’m pretty pleased! It’s easy to pair with all sorts of tops and I’m actually excited to transition it from summer into fall when it gets a little cooler. And yes, I know. It needs to be dry cleaned right now.

Burke Decor Atolla Tassel LampHi, hello, yes I’m crazy and I bought this lamp that looks like Cousin It. But hear me out: It lights up the room better than anticipated and is indeed an interesting conversation piece. Sean wasn’t thrilled with it, but gave in anyway (lol). It’s the perfect addition to any dresser, side table or would even work nicely on a console. Totally eye-catching and awesome.

Society 6 Check Rust Checkerboard Coasters — New coasters in the house, anyone?! I was in desperate need of some because the ones I was using from my old place had started to break down after two years. These cork ones are much more durable, sleek, and add a fun retro pop to the apartment. Society 6 has dozens of their designs available to print on coasters, so would highly check them all out if you want a set thats a little more ~fun~ !!

Kaiyo Sectional — So I realized I never actually shared details on our sectional on my IG or blog, so this is the first I am! This was an amazing find on Kaiyo (where we also got our amazing bookcase)! It pulls out into a sofa bed, has a chaise on the left side (as pictured) and is perfectly mid-century modern. It also was a lot cheaper than most sectionals out there — and, in great condition. I can’t sing higher praises of Kaiyo, it’s an absolute must if you’re shopping for furniture.

With that being said, I hope July is calm. That’s all we can all hope for, at this point. Sending love + light to all, and leaving you with a take from the bard.

“Hope is a lover's staff; walk hence with that and manage it against despairing thoughts.”
