ZOMBIE FEAT. SHOP CIDER

One of my favorite classes in college was an English Theory course. I’ll never forget the first class, where my professor had us dissect the many meanings of the word cat for our entire 50 minute session. After all, a cat is a domestic pet. But what else could it be? That guy’s a cool cat. In this meaning, cat refers to the embodiment of this really, rad guy. You know, the type you’d see playing a show at a tiny jazz club in the East Village. Long story short, words have lots of different connotations, meanings, etc. One of my other favorite words with a myriad of definitions is zombie. Zombie could be your favorite horror movie villian, you know, something out the 1943 cult classic I Walked With a Zombie, or Night of the Living Dead from 1968. But what else could the word zombie mean? Dolores O'Riordan painted a pretty specific image of zombies in The Cranberries 1994 hit — and it wasn’t exactly about the zombies we depict in horror tales. It had a much deeper, sadder meaning. He’s a zombie to technology. Another example of zombie used in a new way. Words can be like chameleons — and so can clothes!

I tried to capture multiple meanings in this look. First, I started with this Cider Retro Oil Painting Tank Top I picked up a few weeks back. It’s super fun because you can tie it in a variety of ways. I could tie it as I have for a more interesting, artistic look, or I could tie it into a bow at the top for a more sultry appeal. I paired it with these neat ShopWeWoreWhat Jeans (similar here)— which I love because they literally allow you to time travel. Chain on, instantly 70s, chain off, 21st century flares that pair with anything. I completd the look with a brown cardigan (linked similar here), and my favorite black strappy shoes from Zara.

Leaving you with a note from the Bard, about the magic of words.

“My words fly up, my thoughts remain below: Words without thoughts never to heaven go.”
