SALLY FEAT. AMAZON FASHION
This post is a shoutout to the Easter bunny’s cameo in A Nightmare Before Christmas! JK… sort of. I immediately thought of the movie, though, when I picked out this top a few weeks ago on Amazon, simply because it reminds me so much of Sally’s patchwork dress. What’s so interesting about her look is that it’s an outward reflection of her body, too. She is sewn together from bits and pieces of dead limbs that Dr. Finkelstein messed around with in his laboratory — and her dress is bits and pieces of fabric she was able to sew together, too. Patchwork art in fashion reflects our inner selves on the outside: we’re all just made up of different traits, experiences and other people, right?
Recently, after Lindsey passed, I found a quote on Instagram that was something along the lines of, “you’d be surprised to know how much of you is in me.” And this totally rings true when I reflect on my relationship with her. Little aspects of my daily life are things I do because she did them: putting highlighter down my nose, or unpacking my entire makeup bag in the bathroom if I’m on a trip are just a few to name. We’re all a patchwork of the people who we grow up with, our parents, our families, and those we spend the most time with. And I think that’s a pretty cool thing.
To go along with the theme, I started this look with this crochet patchwork top from Amazon Fashion, which was a sweet find — and I have a feeling you’ll be seeing it on IG a lot this summer. I paired it with these brown leather pants from ASOS and some oval-shaped sunnies. My Fendi bag paired well with it all, and it turned out to be the perfect Easter fit.
