MY FAIR LADY FEAT. NASTY GAL
Recently, I made Sean watch the 1964 classic My Fair Lady with Audrey Hepburn. He was unamused at first (he wasn’t in the mood for a musical, he said), but immediately loved it about halfway into Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?. I grew up watching this movie, and it wasn’t only until my last rewatch (I probably hadn’t seen it in years), that I took more note of the archaic (and frankly, anti-feminist) antics of Henry Higgins. Throughout the story, though, we watch Eliza blossom into a flower — a woman who actually gets to choose her story in the end. I love looking back at these nostalgic movies and recognize what’s so wrong with some of their themes. More importantly, I love pondering about: what can we learn from this now?
To celebrate Eliza’s eventual freedom at the end of the tale, I put together this outfit featuring Sean’s GAP sherpa-lined jacket (Henry Higgins would hate this) and this cute turtleneck dress from Nasty Gal. I paired it with these killer Steve Madden patent leather boots and my Fendi. To add a little retro flare, I popped on this cream leather headband to tie it all together.

Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours, And so all yours.”
