SEPTEMBER FAVORITES
My favorite month of the year has already come and is almost gone. It’s kind of crazy to think how quickly this year is flying by. This month, I was able to get out to a couple of fun restaurants (+ had my very first meal downtown in six months), start celebrating my birthday (on Tuesday!!!!), and did a few "virtual” NYFW events. It definitely looked a lot different from last September (when Sean and I were galavanting around Paris, Le Marais and Monmartre), but it was still as fulfilling as it could have been. Life has really looked so different in these past few months but I’m always happy to be surrounded by friends + fam making the best of it. Since it IS my birthday month, I did a little online shopping for myself and wanted to share some of my favorite things I got. Here are some of the goods.
fashion
Storets Dakota Printed Cami Dress — This printed dress not only has the cutest angel baby cherubs on it, I also love it’s fit and ruched style. I feel like right now truly is a renaissance to the renaissance — because I’ve been seeing these types of Rococo, Baroque and Italian Renaissance fashion prints just about everywhere. It’s a good thing that these muses are already so omnipresent in my decor and style in that case, but trust me, I don’t mind adding more of it to my collection.
accessories
Velvet Knotted Headbands, Amazon Fashion— I wanted to expand my headband collection this more by adding some more texturized ones into my (tiny but growing) collection. This three pack velvet set is on Amazon for $8.99, no joke, and I highly recommend to add it to cart if you’re looking for some new accessories to jazz up your hair routine.
Custom Roman Numeral Ring x CaitlynMinimalist on Etsy — I was looking to pick up a new roman numeral ring, and these bands from CaitlynMinimalist immediately jumped out at me. For those who might not know, I wear a roman numeral ring on my left hand with my grandfather’s birthday on it — I.VIII.II.IX. — 1/8/1929. This, hands down, has to be my favorite style I’ve ever gotten because I love the cutout, block letters.
Tony Bianco Presley Black Alligator Booties — Ok so this might surprise you, but I haven’t bought a pair of black booties since I think 2016 —I’ve been wearing the same, black fringe cowboy-style booties from Steve Madden since. That being said, and honestly needless to even say, it was time to get a new pair. I am VERY picky when it comes to black booties (I find a lot of styles to be super blah and/or just not totally stylish or cool), so I went on a bit of a hunt to track these down. I loved the crocodile detail, the pointed toe and block heel — and of course the steel point. Really stunning shoes and the best part is absolutely that they’re on sale for $80 from $224.
miscellaneous
Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot — Yeah yeah we all know I’m a major SK fan and if you didn’t then you must be new, but I’m chugging through some books of his I’ve never read, including Salem’s Lot. Of course I love the book so far (about 3/4 through!) which is why I included it here, but I especially included it, too, because I’m excited to share that I’m finally reading almost nightly once again. I’ve had a weird relationship with reading for enjoyment for the past few years (I think, partly, being out at events a lot for work made it hard to find the time/non-exhaustion), but since I’ve of course been home working and home at night now, it’s become super easy for me to pick up a book and focus on it again. I’m also putting this here to hold myself accountable to KEEP reading and maybe share more favorite books down the line in my monthly faves, too.
Speaking of, I part with one of my fave quotes about responsibilities from the Bard:
“Canst thou, O partial sleep, give thy repose to the wet sea-boy in an hour so rude;
And in the calmest and most stillest night, With all appliances and means to boot, Deny it to a king?
Then, happy low, lie down! Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.”
Happy October (+ Spooky SZN!)
