DOCTOR SLEEP FEAT. MISSGUIDED
Doctor Sleep. King’s infamous sequel to one of his very best works, The Shining. Doctor Sleep picks up where it’s former leaves off — and brings you back to Danny Torrence’s world and his special “shine.” One of my favorite parts of this book (and now movie!) is following the one main theme of dreaming. Dreams are a funny thing in King’s world because they’re able to show you things you can not (and should not) be able to see. So he explores what happens when those with the “shine” are exposed to things they shouldn’t be. This is a nice metaphor for the modern way we “dream” and think about our future, and it really puts into question whether we should be really thinking about the future at all.
With the notion of dreams in mind, I put together this dreamy winter-inspired look. I started with this stunning Blush Velvet Ruched Front Milkmaid Top by Missguided, and paired it with a pair of black dress shorts I got from Zara ages ago (similar here with a belt). To tie it together, I added a gold vintage belt, and of course, a fur BCBG coat (similar here).
Ofc I couldn’t close this blog post out without a Shakes quote on dreaming that I love:
“We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep”
