Naturally, I couldn't do a 'Christmas Future' post without referencing one of my favorite Michael Jackson quotes to date, "Study the greats —" he said, "and become greater." Christmas future is all about celebrating uncertainty – which I'll be honest, sounds (and is) pretty terrifying, but without the unknown, life wouldn't really be what it is, and we wouldn't be able to enjoy it the way we do. So this post goes out to the celebration of that abyss — in addition to MJ's wisdom (and of course style). Here's what I threw together.

The star of this post is clear: this Velvet Military-style jacket with passmenterie (a fancy word for elaborate trims) that I got for Christmas from Zara. You also read that price correctly — it's only $40. I love the goldish buttons that are off to one side and the double breasted factor. I paired this over one of my favorite knit Victorian-style turtlenecks I got a while back from Topshop, and added my new favorite (and MOST COMFORTABLE) velvet skinny leggings from Free People

I paired this all with my new (also from Santa!!!) Tony Bianco Diddy booties in Black Velvet and swiped on a red lip.

"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings."
