SILVER BULLET
Based on King's short story, The Cycle of the Werewolf, 'Silver Bullet' has to be one of the most memorable movies of the 1980s. It has those Stranger Things vibes, (after all, it was actually made in '85), and it's about a handicapped little boy figuring out that his local priest actually lurks around corners at night as a werewolf (yikes). But what's so interesting about this narrative is just that -- taking the good-natured priest and giving him an evil secret. Hence the cycle: good to evil, then back to good -- the combination of the epitome of morality to it's complete opposite. I thought this was an excellent story to draw inspiration from during the first week of this 2017 year, as it reminds us that almost everyone, and everything is going through a constant cycle: from good to bad, to good again and so on and so forth. Plus, you can't expect me to rock these sick Surell ear muffs without referencing some sort of furry creature.
I started this look with a plain white turtleneck, and added a crushed velvet babydoll dress I purchased a while back from American Apparel to add a true vintage flair. Of course, I could not do an '80s inspired post without breaking out a bomber jacket, so I added this gorgeous embroidered one I received for Christmas from Miss Selfridge (which, if you haven't heard of them, I highly recommend you check them out). I added some sheer tights underneath and topped the look off with my favorite new furry earmuffs and my signature Ray-Bans.
And with that, some Shakespeare sagacity to remind us of the constant 'cycle of the werewolf':
"We all were sea-swallow'd, though some cast again, and by that destiny to perform an act
Whereof what's past is prologue, what to come In yours and my discharge."
